HA-23S Handheld Analog Radio

I already have to give it credit for feeling like the classic Cobra quality in a far more universal package. As these are not only rechargeable, but also built for all weather. On top of that you get so much more communication distance from these!

I’m happy with it overall—compact on a shoulder strap and standby life is strong for long days. VOX worked well once I tuned sensitivity; my first climb triggered a couple accidental transmissions from heavy breathing. After adjustment it became a true hands-free option with trekking poles. Encrypted calls + frequency hopping also seemed to reduce interference near other groups. Minor learning curve, but worth it.

Took a pair on a weekend ridge hike. Wind was brutal, but audio stayed clear once we dialed in the noise reduction. VOX with a mic made hands-free check-ins easy while trekking poles stayed in hand.

I bought these mostly for our emergency supply set because in previous situations we wished we would have had them - ESPECIALLY when the phones were down. If we needed to evacuate we would need to go in separate cars to fit our humans, our dogs, and our supplies. The walkie talkies would be great to be able to communicate car to car or if we had to be in separate areas. For now we will use them to play around and test them out but ultimately they will go in our emergency bags just in case.

Perfect for road trips
I got these for my husband for a snowmobiling trip, and they worked great for his long range trip with friends. It was such a relief to know that he would have contact with someone if he happened to get lost or away from the group. I also love having these if there were ever an emergency and the grid was down and we needed them for emergency access.

Very easy to use
Appreciate the usb-c charging. We live on 90 acres with zero cell service so when my husband is out on the property,,we use this to communicate and even with some hills in between, we’re able to hear each other. Love the long life battery.

can't wait to take these camping
We have been really into the Stranger Things series and it made us feel so nostalgic. We thought it would be fun to get these to communicate instead of by phone, especially when we go camping. Pleasantly surprised with how clear the sound is and how easy these are to use. They are quick to charge and compact in size.

Battery Beast for Long Expeditions

This radio's standby time is no joke—175 hours means I charged once for a week-long backpacking trip. Clear audio even in freezing temps down to -20°F, and the compact size fits perfectly in a pocket. Frequency hopping cut out interference from other hikers. Highly recommend for serious adventurers.

Perfect for Weekend Hikes

I've taken these on a few ridge hikes where wind is always an issue, and the noise reduction keeps calls super clear—no more yelling over gusts. Battery lasted the whole weekend without a recharge, and the lightweight design didn't add much to my pack. VOX hands-free is a game-changer for trekking poles. Worth every penny for outdoor folks.
